Project Monitoring & Controlling

Monitoring and controlling a project are an important part of the Process group.

Monitoring ensures that the project is on track and executed effectively while controlling ensures that it stays on track. The tools used for monitoring are a formal reporting system, such as Microsoft Project’s default reports, or a tool like Redmine to see all of your projects in one place. These can be used to generate status reports for stakeholders or keep track of major tasks through their completion dates (or if they’re behind schedule).

Project Closing

Project closing activities are the final phase of the project life cycle. They include:

  • Final project review
  • Final project report
  • Documenting closure activities
  • Final project presentation
  • Sign off and archiving of project documents and files. You can store these files and reports in a single repository or distribute them across multiple systems, including electronic file servers or shared drives on your network. Once archived, these resources are available for future use by others who may need access to them for research purposes or other projects (projectors).
